Funder Training


OMG provides workshops to individual philanthropic organizations and funder collaboratives. This training focuses on how best to assess grantee progress and how to help grantees collect and evaluate data as an integral part of their work.

A recent example of funder training can be found below.



Philadelphia Foundation

The OMG Center worked with program staff of the Philadelphia Foundation to improve the foundation's ability to track investment outcomes. The support was focused on two fronts: developing aggregate outcomes to assess results across each of the foundation's investment categories; and developing a framework for individual grantees to track their grant outcomes.

Throughout this consultative process, the OMG team trained the foundation staff on how to determine whether outcomes and measurement tools proposed by grantees were appropriate and how to assist their grantees in the evaluation process. The OMG team also helped the foundation staff identify ways to facilitate a better alignment of individual grant outcomes with aggregate investment outcomes through the staff's guidance to individual grantees.
