OMG Center for Collaborative Learning
We are pleased to share with our colleagues a new publication from the OMG Center for Collaborative Learning - Assessment of the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative: Cross-Site Synthesis of Findings, Conclusions and Key Lessons.

The State Fiscal Analysis Initiative (SFAI) is a collaborative effort that aimed to strengthen capacity among state-level non-governmental organizations to undertake credible, timely, and understandable analysis of critical tax and budget questions affecting lower-income working families. Our assessment of SFAI, commissioned by the Ford Foundation, examines the work of ten "veteran" state-level policy research organizations and summarizes key features of their approach, organizational structure, funding and staffing. It also documents the development of an expanding network of state and national organizations whose members share a concern for improving the quality of state-level fiscal policy processes and outcomes.

The report presents our analysis and synthesis of findings and highlights SFAI's notable results, particularly in changing state-level fiscal policies and the policy process and the encouragement of broader fiscal reforms whose benefits have reached millions of American families. It also points to key challenges to be addressed in the future and describes lessons that SFAI may offer for others embarking on similar initiatives.
