Pathways to Completion Report
The OMG Center in partnership with the City of Philadelphia Office of the Mayor recently released a report looking at the college access and success trajectory of Philadelphia students using data from 20 area higher education institutions.
The first of its kind for the Philadelphia region, the study identifies a series of potential "loss and momentum" points that can help local students gain access to, and succeed in postsecondary education. The report also includes preliminary policy and practice recommendations and a technical appendix which includes recommendations for improving future postsecondary completion data collection efforts.
Although this study represents a new level of coordinated data collection, the Philadelphia community has been focused on using data to inform community-level college completion conversations and strategies over the last few years. In 2010, supported by the John S. & James L. Knight Foundation, OMG presented a study of Philadelphia public high school students’ college enrollment and persistence patterns, as well as a landscape of college access and success supports in Philadelphia.
PDF versions are available of the Pathways to Postsecondary Completion report as well as the Technical Appendix. It has also been highlighted in a recent College Summit white paper.
